Tomás Rua Ó Súilleabháin (1785–1848)
The most famous Uíbh Ráthach poet from the 19th century.
He was born in An Bán Ard, near where the old Fearann Iarthach school is.
He had a hedge school in Cathair Dónall, Port Magee and several other places in Uíbh Ráthach.
Songs he composed are well-known and are still sung in Uíbh Ráthach, all over Ireland and further beyond.
